LYNN – The Lynn Tech boys soccer team decisively defeated Minuteman, 10-0, at Manning Field on Tuesday. Sophomore Francisco Franco led the Tigers with four goals.Coach Rich Repucci of Minuteman was not thrilled in bringing his undermanned team to play the Tigers. He said, “Injuries and job commitments have depleted my team.”Tech coach Fred Gallo, meanwhile, had everyone there for this match. The Tigers are 5-2-1 overall (4-1-1 CAC).Click here for a photo gallery.The game was only five minutes old when Tech struck. A through ball to Emerson Imul, flying down the right wing, set him up for a perfect cross to Franco, who easily beat Minuteman keeper Joel Zapala. This was the first of three consecutive goals. Franco’s second goal was at the 18th minute on a cross from Edwin Alas. The goal was identical to the first shot. The third of Franco’s four goals came in the 23rd minute. He came in late, picked up a pass from Edwin Alas and lobbed the slow arching shot over the keeper, who was out of position.In the 24th minute, Imul got the pass from Franco. His shot from the left top of the area beat the keeper to the top right corner. In the 34th minute, Franco stole a clearing pass and one-timed the ball low left to make the score 5-0, Tech. This was Franco’s 18th goal in eight games.The second half was one minute old when Tech struck again. Klaus Alexis on a nifty through ball from Edwin Alas beat the keeper easily and pushed the score to 6-0. It took twenty minutes before Tech scored again. This time, the Tech keeper, Jose Alas, got the assist with a long clearing pass to Imul, who went in alone from thirty yards. He beat the keeper from the penalty spot to the right side and the score was now 7-0.Two minutes later, Jose Diaz intercepted a clearing pass just outside the area, took two dribbles and buried the ball in the back of the net to make the score 8-0.In the 76th minute, Jonathon DeLeon bounced a shot from the right wing over the keeper’s head, off the far post and into the net. It was now 9-0.In the 77th minute, Tech finished the scoring with a goal by Alexis with an assist to JV player Moises Amaya.”Tech probably is the toughest team in the league to cover,” Repucci said. “They are very quick and all of them can shoot.”Gallo had praise for everyone, especially Franco and Imul (two goals).The Tigers face Northeast at home on Thursday. Northeast handed Tech its only league defeat earlier in the season.
