Bob Franke is scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Church of St. Andrew, 135 Lafayette St.Franke, a Peabody resident, kicked off his career as a singer/songwriter in 1965 when he was still a student at the University of Michigan.Franke, an artist-in-residence at St. Andrew’s since 1979, said he moved to New England to attend seminary school but decided the best way to express his faith was through his music.?Whenever I sing, I’m trying to create in my listeners an awareness of the beauty and sacredness of their own lives, both individually and together, as a community,” he said. “I’m looking forward to seeing old friends and new in the lovely performance space in St. Andrew’s Parish Hall.”At St. Andrew in Marblehead, Franke composed three cantatas, including Meditations on the Passion, familiarly known as the Good Friday Cantata.Janet Fitch Parker, music director at St. Andrew, is a big fan of Franke’s works?I have rarely seen such an extraordinary blend of musical talent with texts that reveal profound insight, spirituality, creativity and humor,” she said.Franke’s songs have been recorded by notable performers including Peter, Paul and Mary; David Wilcox, John McCutcheon, Sally Rogers, Lui Collins and Garnet Rogers.
