August 12, 2010 by Robin Kaminski

SAUGUS – Two suspects involved in a brazen robbery at an ATM earlier this month have been caught by Saugus Police.Det. Jim Donovan said Andrea Russo, 26, of 86 Winchester St., Malden and Joseph Correale, 37, of 57 Bellvale St., Malden, were arrested Tuesday and charged with unarmed robbery and conspiracy.Donovan said the arrests came about through a joint investigation with Saugus, North Reading and Danvers police due to similar robberies involving the two suspects.”We all got together and determined it was her (Russo),” he said. The most recent robbery allegedly occurred at a Danvers Walmart, in which Russo was arrested and appeared at a hearing for at Salem District Court Tuesday.Knowing where she was, Donovan said officers went to the court and arrested her on the spot. Correale was also arrested at court on the same day for an outstanding warrant. The Saugus robbery happened Aug. 4, where a woman was withdrawing money at a Bank of America branch located at 1093 Broadway around 11 p.m.The woman was allegedly approached by Russo, who asked her for directions while at the drive-up machine. As the victim withdrew upwards of $200, Russo was said to have yelled at her, made a threat and grabbed the money as it came out of the machine, along with her debit card.Russo was said to have run away and jumped into an older model four-door green Honda Civic driven by Correale.”They (Russo and Correale) were observed on the bank video as they drove around and parked there waiting for someone,” Donovan said. “If people are at a bank late at night and someone pulls up behind them, it’s really best to just drive away to be safe.”
