NAHANT n A 25-foot long flying lobster, 15-foot tall scuba diver and Erwin the Duck will be flying high at the 14th annual Kites Over New England (KONE) Saturday at Long Beach.The family event will include a sport kite competition with many of New England’s top flyers. Fliers will maneuver kites through a series of precision figures, and fly to music during the kite ballet competition. Kites Over New England will host a free seminar for novice stunt kite fliers at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.Surrounding the stunt kite fields will be areas for single-line kites open to kite flyers of all ages. Glenn Davison and Richard Amirault will fill the sky with their collection of giant kites and windsocks. Paul Lawrence and Tim Boyle will have a large eclectic selection of banners, windsocks and wind toys on display.KONE member Gary Quinton encourages area residents to check out the festival and try their hand at kite flying.The KONE Lynn/Nahant Regional Kite Festival is free and runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.KONE is a group of kite enthusiasts who gather together to celebrate the color and spectacle of single, dual, three, and quad-line kites.
