LYNN – Veterans living in Habitat Plus’ two Essex Street residences are receiving $10,000 from General Electric’s Veterans Council to help offset state funding cuts.GE material planning worker and Air Force veteran Patrick Burke said council members were looking for ways this year to help needy veterans, including psychologically disabled vets who need help.”I kind of stumbled across Habitat and then we heard they help veterans get access to services,” Burke said.He credited IUE Local 201 member Marie Poretta with producing and selling T-shirts to help raise money for a donation to Habitat.
