MARBLEHEAD – The 230-student, Grade 4-8 Marblehead Community Charter Public School is using an online questionnaire to gauge parent and community support for their proposed Grade 3 class. The school has arranged to lease additional space in its Lime Street building. A study committee recommended that the additional space be renovated for use as third grade classrooms. However, in an email to parents, Academic Director Nina Cullen-Hamzeh called expanding the school program “an important decision.””We would greatly appreciate knowing what you think,” she said, asking parents to be as detailed as possible in their answers.Respondents are asked to state if they are parents of current MCCPS students, parents of MCCPS alumni, community members with young children or community members without school-age children. The survey asks if they think MCCPS should add third grade classes and why, if they would apply for third grade for their children, what grade their prospective third graders are in and where they live.Current MCCPS students are from Marblehead, Swampscott, Nahant, Lynn and Salem, along with other North Shore communities.Respondents may request more information about the 3rd grade expansion and list their comments, questions or concerns as well.
