MIDDLETON – Building Bridges Through Music Gospel/Jazz Brunch will be held at Angelica’s, Route 114 in Middleton on March 13 at 11 a.m.Highlights of the seventh annual fundraising brunch include performances by the Tony Gallo Band, Building Bridges and the KIPP Academy student African Dance Troupe.Gallo, who is a Lynn resident, is the founder of White Lightnin’ and he is adept in music genres ranging from Rhythm & Blues, funky soul, rock, swing and jazz.Building Bridges Through Music (formerly Follow Hymn Music Inc.) is a Lynn-based organization that was established in April 2002.Artistic Programs Director Doreen Murray said the name was changed last year.”Our mission hasn’t changed from our early beginnings,” she said, “but it has taken on a broader commitment to our purpose.”Murray said the mission of “Building Bridges Through Music” is to bring together diverse neighboring communities for the purpose of increasing cultural awareness and racial harmony by using music, dance and dramatic presentation as a multicultural educational tool.”Music speaks peace, tolerance and unity among performers of all ages,” Murray said, “regardless of ethnic or religious orientation, allowing enhanced learning of other cultures.”Admission is $40 per person and tickets will be available at the door.
