SALEM – The “Shoebox Memories” of a Marblehead artist will be the centerpiece of an exhibit at The Gallery at Grosvenor Park next month.Michael Haley said he discovered his own shoebox memories when he moved a little more than a year ago.”Shoebox memories, we’ve all got them stashed away in the back of a closet somewhere,” he said.Haley said the exhibit includes his personal collection of Marblehead photographs that span the last three decades and treasured family memorabilia going back several generations.Haley said the family memorabilia includes his grandmother’s jewelry, honeymoon photographs from WWII and a prized teddy bear.”They all deserve to be shared and appreciated by young and old alike,” he said.To compile the exhibit, Haley said he sorted through his collection and selected some of his favorite objects, which he photographed and restored using digital technology. The photographs were then arranged in a series of collages and on themed short animated videos.Haley has an extensive background as both an advertising art director and freelance photographer, that has taken him from Madison Avenue to The Virgin Islands. He has a BA in Fine Arts from the University of California, Berkeley and has been exhibiting his artwork throughout the Greater Boston area since 2003.If You Go?The exhibit runs Feb. 6 through March.
