LYNN ? It’s “Treasure Island” like you’ve never seen before.North Shore Community College’s Performing Arts Council’s interactive production offers a unique take on the Robert Lewis Stevenson tale. The production is written and directed by NSCC Performing Arts Coordinator Matthew Woods.Woods said the show would embrace all of the essential elements of the novel including buried treasure, mutiny and marooning while charting its own course with the addition of pantomime. But forget what you think you know about pantomime- this is not classic Marcel Marceau pantomime.Instead theater goers will discover a topsy turvy world where the principal male character is played by a female and the Grand Dame is really a man played by Derek Smith. With a plethora of incredible characters ranging from Old Mother Hen to the Wicked Witch of the Wet this show offers something for the whole family. Dancing animals, bad puns and witty word play abound as the battle of good versus evil is plays out against a backdrop of classic adventure and fairy tales.Lynn residents in the show are Anlly Belliard, Gia Dimitrakopolous, Cathy McDonough, Maria Merced, Gerard “Sully” Sullivan, Wade Sutherland and Maryvett Tello. If You Go?The play will be performed at North Shore Community College gymnasium, 300 Broad St., this Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Children 10 and under are free. Tickets will be available at the door.
