The Daily ItemLYNN – The Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce urges business owners to RSVP in advance for the upcoming mayoral debate with candidates Edward Clancy and Judith Flanagan-Kennedy on Friday at the Porthole Restaurant beginning at 7:30 a.m.”We’re not surprised by the interest of our business members in this campaign,” says LACC president Leslie Gould. “Business is a vital part of the Lynn community. Businesses support the city by paying higher taxes and give to many charitable organizations and non-profits, churches, temples, schools; etc. The business community is trying to survive, especially in this economy. Whether you are a mom and pop shop or employ hundreds of people, there are issues facing the business community and our members consistently discuss the future of business in Lynn. A vibrant business community is a positive in any community and I know in the end that’s everyone’s goal.”Gould adds that all questions will focus on the present and future of doing business in the city. Questions were submitted by the membership and by the Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee. Question topics will focus on jobs, parking, safety, permitting and licensing, communications, taxes, image and the Chamber to name a few.”This debate may be one of the most important events we host this year,” says Gould. “This event is for the Chamber members and defines the Chamber as a valuable resource within the community. The Mayoral Debate is an opportunity to let local government know that the business community cares about what happens at City Hall.”Debate presenting sponsor is Eastern Bank.
