LYNN ? Central Square will come alive with sights and sounds on Sept. 26 from noon to 5 p.m.Lynn’s Annual Festival of the Arts, which is a free event, will include musical performers, children’s theater, dance performances, activities for children and numerous vendors selling their wares.The lineup of performers on the music stage includes Julie Dougherty, Los Sugar Kings and Barrence Whitfield and the Boston Horns.Dougherty, who lives in Salem, has been performing for more than 30 years and is well known in the New England folk circle as a singer-songwriter. She will be accompanied by Jack O’Soro on drums, Woody Woodward on bass and Jimmy Scoppa on guitar.Los Sugar Kings is a Boston-based quartet known its unique repertoire, which incorporates Afro-Cuban Son, Salsa and Rumba-Flamenca traditions.Organizers said they expect more than 40 vendors will be on hand offering an extensive array of arts and crafts, including jewelry, greeting cards, fine art, photography, handmade soaps, beauty products and one of a kind ceramics.There are plenty of free activities for the younger set including face-painting, animal balloons, kite making workshops and a bounce house.LynnArts, RAW Artworks and the Lynn Museum will offer special exhibits and activities throughout the afternoon.There will also be plenty of food to tantalize the taste buds under the food tent, which will be located next to Lynn Arts. The North Shore Caribbean Association will have a variety of ethnic foods. Mercury Brewing Company will be selling craft beers and sodas. Kettle Masters of New England will be on hand selling old-fashioned kettle corn.
