BOSTON – Taxpayers looking for advice on how to take advantage of 2009 tax provisions in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act can find it on YouTube and iTunes, popular Internet sites that the federal Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is using to get the word out.The IRS has announced that video and audio products are available on these Web sites to help taxpayers, according to Peggy Riley, spokeswoman for the IRS office in Boston.”The YouTube focus will be on the provisions of the American Recovery andReinvestment Act,” she said. “Videos will highlight the $8,000 first-timehomebuyer’s credit for those who purchase a house this year, the salesor excise tax deduction on new car purchases and the expanded creditsfor education and energy conservation.”The IRS YouTube channel will debut with seven Recovery videos in Englishand ASL and eight in Spanish, Riley said, noting that another video will explain how to use IRS Withholding Calculator.”Many workers received the Making Work Pay tax credit in April through their tax withholding at work. However, people who have more than one job or working spouses should especially check their withholding to ensure neither too much nor too little is being withheld,” Riley said. “People can use the calculator to help determine if they should make adjustments.”The IRS iTunes site is online at iTunes, while the YouTube site can be found at www.youtube.com/irsvideos.
