Get ready to move from the clock to the rock during Third Thursday’s 3rd annual 5K run on Sept. 17.Registration and check in for the race is from 5 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. near the clock in Central Square. Racers may also pre-register online at http://www.thirdthursdayslynn.com/5k.htm. Registration is $17 in advance and $20 the day of the event. All proceeds from the race go to the Central Square Collaborative to help fund future Third Thursday events.The race gets underway at 6 p.m. and will be followed by an award ceremony at 7:15 p.m.There are plenty of activities and free entertainment for non-runners throughout the eveningThe Beatles cover band “Nowhere Men” will rock the square with their live music.Be sure to stop by the galleries at LynnArts to peruse the latest exhibits. Raw Arts Works, a nonprofit youth arts organization that was founded in 1988, will be open for the evening with free hands on activities for the whole family. For more than a decade Raw Art Works, which is based in Lynn, has taken art into the streets, public housing, youth incarceration facilities, soup kitchens and schools.The Lynn Farmers Market will remain open late that evening and the Lynn Museum & Historical Society, which waives its admission fee on Third Thursdays, will be open to the public and have a special book signing event. Author Alan Pierce, who is president of the Jewish Historical Society of the North Shore, will discuss his new book “A History of Boston’s Jewish North Shore” at 7 p.m. The book explores the history of the Jewish communities, temples and families of Lynn, Salem, Swampscott and Marblehead.
