Together, along with saxophonist Michael “Tunes” Antunes, formerly of the John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, Tim Archibald on bass and Brian Maes (lead vocals and keyboard), they formed Ernie and the Automatics. The group, whose members have collectively sold over 30 million records for labels big and small, released its first CD, “Low Expectations,” in February.Low Expectations features all original material the band describes as either rock with a blues edge or blues with a rock edge. The Oct. 16 show at Memorial Auditorium is one stop in Ernie and the Automatics’ pursuit of a national audience.”No question we’re big in New England, but now is the time for us to make our move,” says Goudreau. “We’ve got a national sound.”Johnny A.The Malden native is considered one of America’s finest contemporary guitarists, for whom Gibson designed a signature edition guitar, putting him in an exclusive group that includes the likes of B.B, King, Chet Atkins, Joe Perry and the late Les Paul himself.Johnny A., who attended Berklee School of Music for a period but was largely self-schooled at home and in Boston’s hippie-era club scene, formed and played a number of Boston bands and eventually hooked up with J. Geils band front man Peter Wolf, with whom he played for seven years in the 1990s. He later launched a solo career which led to the release of his critically acclaimed instrumental guitar album Sometime Tuesday Morning, which he followed up with a second instrumental tour de force, Get Inside. Johnny A. has also produced a leading instructional guitar DVD.James Montgomery BandWhen blues legend James Montgomery plays the harmonica, he “brings it on home.” Whether it’s recording with Kid Rock, sitting in with Gregg Allman, or fronting his hot band of 30 years, Montgomery plays with authority. While growing up in Detroit he learned first-hand from the masters – James Cotton, John Lee Hooker and Jr. Wells – at the legendary Chessmate.Over the years, he’s carried on in the tradition and continues to be a vital presence in Blues as one of the most dynamic performers on the scene. In 1970, while attending Boston University, Montgomery formed the James Montgomery Band. His inimitable harmonica playing combined with his incredibly energetic live shows led to the band’s quick ascension on the New England music scene. Within two years, the James Montgomery Band was among the hottest acts in Boston along with J. Geils and Aerosmith and they were quickly signed to a multi-album deal with Capricorn Records and has since recorded six albums.(from jamesmontgomery.com)Ticket InformationTickets are available by calling the Lynn Auditorium box office at 781-581-2971 or through ticket fusion at www.ticketfusion.comJOSHUA TREE – U2 Tribute Band, Saturday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. Tickets $12 prior / $15 at the door.
