The Daily ItemNashville singer Carley Tanchon, fresh off a gig at The Bitter End in New York City as part of her tour promoting her new CD “Peridot,” is reunited with the Johnny Ray Band this weekend for several North Shore gigs and two local shows Saturday night.Tanchon, a Berklee College of Music graduate, played with the Johnny Ray Band for several years on the North Shore and in Las Vegas until departing for Nashville to develop as a solo artist last fall.Meanwhile, the namesake of the Johnny Ray Band has been earning critical acclaim for his first CD, ‘Songs from the El Rey Motel.’ Following a CD release party last month at Scullers Jazz Club in Allston, Songs from the El Rey Motel was recently approved for airplay on WUMB Boston (91.9 FM).In addition to their original songs, Tanchon nails solo covers from Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow, Joni Mitchell, Patsy Cline, Linda Rondstat and Carly Simon to name a few; while Ray has been filling lounges in Greater Boston and Las Vegas for years with his take on the masters including Frank Sinatra, Tom Jones, Johnny Cash and the Blues Brothers.The Johnny Ray Band with Carley Tanchon plays a private fundraiser tonight in Beverly Farms for the Travis Roy Foundation. Public Saturday and Sunday performances are as follows:Lime Rickey’s in Marblehead Saturday from 5-8 p.m. and Red Rock Bistro in Swampscott Saturday from 9 to midnight. Tanchon and Ray are also scheduled to play Big Bear’s Run, a fund-raiser to benefit the Home for Italian Children, Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at Rossmeyer’s Harley Davidson in Revere.
