LYNN ? Six professional comedians with connections to Lynn including well-known headliner Bob Seibel will perform at a benefit on June 23 at Old Tyme Italian Cuisine, 612 Boston St.The benefit is for the family of the late Mike Zarba, who died of extensive injuries resulting from a hit and run accident on Boston Street last month. Funds from the show will be used to help with his medical expenses.In addition to Seibel, one of New England’s top headliners who also performs regularly in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, the show will feature Dan Gill, Joe Espinola, Sal Votano, Jeff Koen and Carl Phillips.Siebel, who is one of the original “Ding Ho” comedians from Boston, mined his experiences growing up in an immigrant neighborhood in Lynn to entertain audiences for more than 30 years.Gill, a Lynn resident, performs in clubs and theaters all over New England and is the host of a monthly comedy show at Bostonville Grille in Lynnfield.Espinola, who is a relative newcomer to comedy, got his start at the Comedy Connection in Boston and his sarcastic and self depricating style has a growing fan base.Votano, who is also a native of Lynn, has made a name for himself in the few years he has been on the comedy circuit. He has built a fan base with his unique point of view on growing up in Lynn and life as a builder. He performs regularly with top comics in New York City and Boston. He also hosts his own monthly comedy shows at Fody’s Tavern in Nashua, N.H.Newburyport resident Jeff Koen has worked in comedy clubs with some of Boston’s top comics and his playful sense of humor focuses on food, family and fun.Lynn native Carl Phillips works at General Electric and moonlights as a performer. He is a cast member of “Joey & Maria’s Wedding” and plays Paulie Wacknuts in “The Soprano’s.” Phillips is relatively new to stand up comedy and he can be found entertaining audiences at local clubs including the Comedy Vault and Giggles.The idea for the benefit originated with Phillips.”I worked with Mike’s dad (Phil Zarba) at General Electric for many years,” he said. “I decided I wanted to do something. It just touched my heart and tore me apart.”Votano said all of the comedians were happy to donate their time for the cause.”All of the guys were happy to donate their time for a fellow Lynner and we hope others come out and have some fun and help the guy out,” he said.The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are available Old Tyme Italian Cuisine, 612 Boston St. Tickets $15 each.
