SAUGUS ? Fans of Steve Sweeney who do not want to be asked if they are retaaaaaaaaded this weekend will be making their way to Giggles Comedy Club to catch the Massachusetts native in action.Sweeney, who has been called “the undisputed king of Boston comedy,” undoubtedly will offer his unique views on the area’s political scene.Sweeney, who says he got his start during the early ’70s, with a small group of Boston would-be comedians including such unknowns as Lenny Clarke, Kevin Meaney, Jay Leno, Bobcat Goldwaithe and Steven Wright, was the star of “Park Street Under” and has been a regular on TV shows including David Letterman, Evening at The Improv, HBO and Caroline’s. He has also performed for The Cam Neely – Dennis Leary Comics Come Home special.”I will be doing three shows this weekend and there will be a lot of news to talk about,” Sweeney said. “I know I will be talking about Big Papi, (Mayor) Menino and Manny Ramirez. It will certainly be a very interesting weekend.”Sweeney said he is looking forward to talking about summer vacations, as there are a lot of areas that people simply do not pay attention to.”There are so many vacation spots in the area people just overlook,” Sweeney said. “You have Malden and Everett and of course all those 5-star hotels on Route 1 like the Avalon and Town Line Inn.”This Friday and Saturday night Giggles is offering a special event featuring the comedic talents of Sweeney who will be joined by Johnny Pizzi and Mark Riley Friday and Kerri Louise and Frank Santorelli (best known for his portrayal of “Georgie,” the bartender on The Sopranos) Saturday.There is one show Friday at 8:30 and a pair of shows Saturday – 7:15 and 9:30. Tickets are $26.”Steve’s a wild guy and I have probably done 1,000 shows with him,” Pizzi said. “He is one of the funniest guys on the planet. He is a rare comic who makes people laugh all the time. He is very physical and is a funny, funny guy.”Pizzi, who will be the host over the weekend, said he takes pride when he is at Giggles to make sure he has the audience set up and ready for when he introduces the next comedian.”My job is to have the audience laughing from the start and to get them ready for the night,” Pizzi said. “I like to always be a little different with my act and will always play off the audience and be creative.”According to Louise’s Web site, she is part Generation-X and part girl-next-door: The girl-next-door with an edge.”The girls are going to love me,” Louise said during a phone interview Wednesday afternoon. “Tell the girls to bring their boyfriends or husbands. The men will not only be entertained and laugh but they will learn things as well.”I love when I am doing my routine and I see the women in the audience hitting their boyfriends or husbands and saying, ‘See, she is just like me.
