The third-year program captured a Catholic Central League title, and senior co-captain Bridget Dullea scored a school-record 89 goals. She also had almost 30 assists. Dullea is one of eight seniors on the team, seven of whom are starters.The Crusaders have a preliminary-round bye and play the winner of No. 16 Westford versus No. 17 Arlington in the first round on Tuesday, May 26 (5 p.m.) at Fenwick.Fenwick coach Karen Guillemette said she did not know much about either of her potential opponents. However, she said, “I think they’re both two very good teams. It’s certainly not going to be easy.”St. Mary’s also gets a preliminary-round bye before facing the winner of No. 14 Pentucket and No. 19 Tewksbury on Wednesday, May 27 (7)at Manning Field in the first round. Fenwick fans might be interested in the Tewksbury-Pentucket matchup, too, as Pentucket ousted the Crusaders in the first round last season.The other local D2 team to get a preliminary-round bye is Marblehead, which visits No. 8 Belmont next Tuesday in the first round (4:30).In the preliminary round, Danvers faces No. 21 Ipswich at John George Park on Sunday (1) while Swampscott travels to No. 15 Triton for a Monday-morning matchup (10).”We did use to have (Triton) on our schedule,” Swampscott co-coach Paula Donnelly said. “It’s been a couple of years since we played them in the regular season. They play in the Cape Ann League, which is really tough. We both defeated Gloucester. They (Triton) have a couple all-stars, who I was able to watch (at the NEC-CAL all-star game Friday night). I think it’ll be a good game.”Swampscott, coached by Donnelly and Anna Skillings, made the tournament for the first time in the program’s five-year history. Donnelly said she is looking for her team’s two top scorers, Mallory McDonough and Elise Giangregorio, to step up in the postseason, along with Casey Connolly and Sarah Burnham on defense and Kristin Santanello at midfield.In D1 play, Peabody visits Acton-Boxboro next Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. first-round game with the No. 7 Colonials.
