The Bishop Fenwick baseball team missed the state tournament last season. Evidently, the Crusaders didn’t like the feeling of not playing baseball in June.Fenwick remained unbeaten on Wednesday, edging Cardinal Spellman 6-5 thanks to Dave Ruggiero’s walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh.The Crusaders (6-0) pounded out 14 hits in the game but needed two runs in the seventh for the win.Tommy Moules’ sacrifice fly tied the game 5-5. Dale Crispin followed with a single and scored when Ruggiero doubled.Brett Swanson pitched two innings in relief to get the win.English 13, Revere 4At Fraser Field, outfielder Brian Maynard belted a 2-run triple in the fourth inning and followed with a grand slam in an 8-run fifth for the 3-0 Bulldogs.Jonathan Surette got the win, striking out 11, walking two and surrendering only five hits. Surette added three hits and two RBI at the plate.AC 4, St. Mary’s 3At Arlington, Alex Fiste allowed six hits and two earned runs in his first start of the season. But a four-run Cougars third inning kept him from getting a win.Angelo Codispoti was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI for St. Mary’s (3-2). Joe Kasabuski and Yano Petruzzelli each went 1-for-3.Swampscott 10, Winthrop 0At Swampscott, Hunter Gordon struck out 10 in a 2-hit shutout. He also was 3-for-4 with a homer, three runs scored and two RBI at the plate.John Pelletier was the hitting hero for the Big Blue (2-1), going 3-for-3 with a homer, six RBI and three runs scored. Matt Barbuzzi was 2-for-3 with two RBI.Marblehead 9, Danvers 1At Seaside Park, Kevin Comeau (7 innings, 4 hits, 6 strikeouts, 1 earned run) got the job done on the mound and at the plate (RBI triple) for the Magicians. Dan Comeau (2-for-4, 2 RBI); Brandon Lee (2-for-2, double, 2 RBI, 3 stolen bases); Corey Meyer (2-for-3) and Ben Koopman (hit, RBI) also contributed.Peabody 7, Salem 3At Salem, Mark Linehan went the distance for the Tanners (3-2) to beat his cousin, Sean, who started for Salem.Marc Finocchio led the Peabody offense, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Ryan English was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored and Pete Sucharewicz was 2-for-3 with a run scored.Xaverian 6, St. John’s 1At Danvers, Eagle (4-1) pitcher Pat Connaughton struck out 12 over 5 1/3 innings but was the victim of untimely errors as the Hawks broke the game open with a 4-run sixth inning.Mike Yastrzemski and Chris Carmain each had two hits with Carmain driving in the Prep’s run.Gloucester 10, Saugus 3At World Series Park in Saugus, the Sachems (1-4) had plenty of chances to score but couldn’t get a hit with men in scoring position.Vinny Talutto, Craig Cole and Paul Andrews each drove home a run for Saugus.
