BOSTON – Smucker’s Stars on Ice promises to keep fans on the edge of their seats with its newest production “On the Edge.”The extravaganza skates into TD Banknorth Garden on Sunday for one show only at 3 p.m..The show features cutting-edge choreography, state-of-the art technology and dynamic costumes as the best skaters in the world show off their athletic skills and push their bodies to the edge.Headlined by 2006 Olympic Silver medalist Sasha Cohen, the Smucker’s Stars on Ice cast showcases creative ensemble numbers and individual routines featuring Olympic, World and National champions. Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto, who proved they are back among the best ice dancers in the world by capturing a silver medal at the 2009 World Figure Skating Championships in Los Angeles this week, are also among the sakters.The outstanding cast of Olympic, World and National Champions includes the newly crowned 2009 World Champion Evan Lysacek and World Champion and six-time U.S. Champion Todd Eldredge.Eldredge, 37, said he has been skating for 31 years and has been with the tour for eight years.”I enjoy performing and skating,” he said. “As long as fans enjoy watching me skate and I enjoy doing it I will continue. Every year we change up our routines so it’s always new and exciting. Every year there is something new and different for audience.”Eldredge, who grew up in Chatham, his favorite routine in this year’s production is the finale.”I like REO Speedwagon,” he said. “The grand finale is their song Roll with the Changes. It’s a lot of fun.”When he’s not on the ice, Eldredge said he can be found on a golf course and at the racetrack.”I like to do a lot of things,” he said. “I really like car racing.”The show this year, titled, “On The Edge: The Heart of a Champion,” the skaters take their skills to new heights, challenging themselves and daring to be different. They do it all on the edge of a steel blade no thicker than a pane of glass. With the top skaters in the world performing to music by Grammy Award winner Rihanna, Meat Loaf, Led Zeppelin and even Beethoven, the show offers something for everyone.The skating extravaganza also stars two time world Medallist and three-time U.S. Champion Michael Weiss, 1998 Olympic Gold Medallist Ilia Kulik of Russia, World Champion and two-time Japanese Ladies Champion Yuka Sato, World Bronze Medallist and three-time U.S. Pair Champion John Zimmerman, six-time Canadian Ladies Champion Jennifer Robinson, two-time Olympic Medallists and three-time World Pair Champions Xue Shen & Hongbo Zhao of China, two-time World Silver Medallists and five-time Canadian Dance Champions Marie-France Dubreuil & Patrice Lauzon
