The Bishop Fenwick boys basketball team has been on a mission this year after seeing its dreams of reaching the Division 3 North final die in North Andover last season against Wilmington.That loss has been a springboard to a spectacular season thus far for the Crusaders, who clinched the Catholic Central League/Large title on Friday with a 68-49 win over Austin Prep on senior night in Peabody.”The kids have worked hard from day one and they deserve it,” Fenwick coach Mike Kane said.The Crusaders, 16-1 overall and 13-1 in league play, were never really in jeopardy leading by 11 after one quarter and 35-20 at the half when Mike Clifford hit a half-court shot at the buzzer. Fenwick extended the lead to as much as 30 before calling off the dogs.Clifford led all scorers with 22 points and 18 rebounds. Nolan DiPanfilo added 18 and Nick Cotoia had nine to pace Fenwick.The Crusaders are back in action this evening (8) against Danvers in the first round of the North Shore Invitational at Danvers.St. Mary’s 86, No. Camb.
