With the high school hockey season nearly three quarters of the way complete, teams trying to make a push for the tournament are looking for points.On Tuesday at Connery Rink, the Lynn Jets came into their game with Bourne sitting at 5-7 with seven games remaining and promptly got into a 2-0 hole after the first period.But the Jets dug deep and got second period goals from Sean Crowley and Terry Finnigan to salvage a 2-2 tie with the visitors from Cape Cod.”Credit to Bourne, they got off the bus and took it to us in the first period,” Lynn coach Joe Conlon said. “But we played a good second period to get back in the game.”Crowley’s goal was unassisted while defenseman Dave Stevens picked up the assist on Finnigan’s goal.”Our defense is leading us right now,” Conlon said. “They’ve been there every night.TRACKFenwick 68, Spellman 59At the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury, the Crusaders (6-0) clinched the Tri-County Division 2 championship. This accomplishment for the co-ed squad marks the first time that a boys track team from Fenwick had won in 28 years and that a girls team had won in 15 years.Elly O’Leary had a phenomenal day the Crusaders. She placed first in the girls mile with a time of 5:28 and the girls long jump with a distance of 14-9. She also anchored the 4×400, which won with a time of 4:26. The other members of the team were Mariel Quezada, Christina Vellucci and Bianca Gallo.Brittany Dolan won the high hurdles with a personal-best time of 10:09. Kristina Moran remained perfect on the season in the shot put with a throw of 29-8.Pablo Sosa placed first in the boys 300 (:39). Bill Harrington took home top honors in the 2-mile with a time of 10:13, in his first time ever competing in the event. Sophomore Zack Nardone won the shot put on his last throw, with a distance of 39-5.Bill Harrington set a new school record and qualified for the states in the 1,000, as he placed second with a time of 2:49.BC High 50, St. John’s 45At the Reggie Lewis Center, the Eagles (4-1) took home the first- and second-place finishes in the 300: Jared Kadich (36.53) and Chris Crosby (36.72). Kadich and Crosby rank second and sixth in the state, respectively, in this event.Mike Masse took home two first-place finishes: mile (4:44) and 1,000 (2:42). Ben Halpin finished first in the 2-mile (10:20), while Sean Hanlon placed first in the 600 with a time of 1:27.47.Despite BC High remaining the only undefeated team in the Division 1 Tri-County League, St. John’s still has a chance to finish in a three-way tie for first place if BC High loses to Xaverian next week. Xaverian’s only loss of the season was to the Eagles.SWIMMINGPeabody 87, Revere 80At Peabody, the team of Julie Shea, Brittani Atkinson, Mike Diaz and Steve Maruzzi took home three first-place finishes in relays: 200 medley (2:09.45), 200 freestyle (1:50.85) and 400 freestyle (4:10.59). All four also picked up an individual first-place finish as well: Shea, 100 freestyle (1:01.50); Atkinson, 200 IM (2:33.38); Diaz, 50 freestyle (23.77); and Maruzzi, diving (176.45). Diaz qualified for the sectionals with his time.Salem 92, Classical 86At the O’Keefe Center in Salem, the Rams swept the top three spots in the diving competition: Tom Schumann (176.9), Joleen Satterwhite (134.0) and Norah Gomez (119.7). Katelyn Kidney placed first in the 200 IM (2:28.72). Peter Rondeau and Jeremy Dorson both showed improvement in the 200 freestyle.Danvers 96, English 54At Tech, Langston Toxey had the best day for the Bulldogs (0-5) as he took home a first-place finish in the 100 butterfly (1:06.57) and a third place in the 100 backstroke (1:15.36). Nick Newhall placed third in the 100 freestyle (1:15.36). Allison Langlois set new personal-best times in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
