Bishop Fenwick’s boys basketball team just keeps getting better ? and so does center Mike Clifford.The 6-10 senior from Danvers scored 26 points, and pulled down 16 rebounds, as the Crusaders raised their record to 10-1 with a 64-57 win over Cardinal Spellman in Peabody.The win qualified the Crusaders for the tournament, and also set up a rematch Tuesday night at Cathedral (10-0), which is the only team to defeat to beat Fenwick this year.Also lighting it up for Fenwick was Nolan DiPanfilo, who scored 16 points. Point guard Nick Cotoia had eight points, but chipped in seven assists and five steals, and “easily had his best game of the year,” said Fenwick coach Mike Kane.The Crusaders were down by 11 (35-24) at the half, as Clifford, with two early fouls, sat out much of the first 16 minutes.”We came out flat,” said Kane. “And with Mike in foul trouble, we struggled.”But things picked up in the second half, as Fenwick scored 40 points and Clifford poured in 16 points in the final two quarters.”We played really aggressive in the third quarter,” said Kane.Classical 90, Danvers 75At Classical, the brothers Grassa combined for 32 points (Jasper with 22, Nick with 10) and Jarell Byrd has 19 as Classical ran its mark to 11-3.”We haven’t lost at home,” said coach Tom Grassa. “I want to give Danvers credit.
