LYNN – Her solo show is closing this weekend but it’s just the beginning for an up and coming artist from Venezula.Trinidad Martinez’ exhibit “Oraculos/Oracles,” is currently on display at The Little Gallery under the Stairs at Lynn Arts. A closing reception will be held on Saturday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.Martinez said “Oraculos/Oracles” offer viewers a sampling of her artwork including watercolors, mixed media and bronze sculptures.”My interest in the scientific and spiritual have collided constantly with my visual and psychological experiences,” she said. “My paintings, drawings, sculptures and murals are made up of the movement of energy in the natural elements.”The Little Gallery Under the Stairs owner Jocelyn Almy-Testa said Martinez has boundless energy and enthusiasm for the arts.”She is a motivated, talented and committed artist and an amazing self-promoter,” she said. “I enjoy having her work in the gallery and look forward to an ongoing working relationship with Trinidad.”Martinez moved to the United States in 2001 to pursue a career in the arts. She moved to Lynn earlier this year from Arlington where she was involved with arts on a local level.Martinez jumped into the LynnArts community earlier this year when she entered with a sculptural collaborative piece she created with fellow artist Kevin Hudson in the LynnArts’ annual juried Works on Paper exhibit.Martinez has a wealth of teaching experience. She taught art classes in Venezuela and in Marseille, France. Martinez taught at LynnArts Art Explorers children’s summer program. She is currently teaching at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston and for LynnArts’ My City/My Self program, an Essex National Heritage Commission grant program administered in partnership with the Lynn Boys and Girls Club My City/My Self program.Mayor Chip Clancy recently appointed Martinez to the local Community Council, where she will work to redistribute state funds for the arts to local artists and organizations through grants and the PASS program.
