It was a battle of undefeated teams in Beverly on Tuesday as the Panthers hosted Peabody.Using solid performances up and down the order, the Panthers (5-0) stayed perfect, taking three of the top five and five of the top eight positions against the previously undefeated Tanners (4-1) in a 22-33 win.”The girls really stepped up,” Beverly coach Dave Jellerson said.Kelly O’Connor won overall in 18:59 for the Panthers. As she has much of the season, she placed in the top five, finishing fifth overall with a time of 24:45. Isamar Hodge was English’s next fastest runner with a time of 27:39, which was good for seventh overall.Danvers 24, Marblehead 35At Danvers, the Falcons’ Christine Montefusco (19:39) and Hannah Dyer (20:16) finished in the top two spots to propel their team to victory.Big Blue runners Bridget Forbes (20:23), Madeline Piela (20:24) and Kate Hewig (20:29) placed three through five, but it was not sufficient enough as Marblehead fell to 3-2 on the year.Bishop Fenwick 25, Arlington Catholic 30At Fenwick, a Cougar runner finished first overall, but performances by Marial Quezada (22:47), Joanna DeLorenzo (23:07) and Megan Woodcock (23:14), who finished second through fourth, and a 23:26 time from freshman Marissa O’Brien catapulted the Crusaders (3-2) to victory.Revere 15, Classical 50At Revere, Maritza Melara finished with the Rams’ best time at 23:54.BOYS CROSS COUNTRYSwampscott 15, Saugus 50At Swampscott, the Big Blue swept the top four positions in improving to 5-0 on the season. Steve Bazant set a personal-best time of 15:45 to win the race. Sam Rakoc was second at 15:46 with Ilya Smelyansky in third (15:58) and Nick Hartman fourth (16:01).Peabody 15, Beverly 45At Beverly, the Tanners (5-0) breezed to the top five positions.
