The Lynn English boys soccer team was sporting a 2-3-1 record at the quarter point of this season. Since then, however, the Bulldogs have been a team on a mission.Kevin Garduno’s goal with five minutes left in the second half gave English a 3-2 win at Dr. Deering Stadium in Danvers, running its unbeaten streak to six games (4-0-2).The Falcons (5-4-2) had a 1-0 lead in the first half on Eddie Bates’ unassisted goal before English (7-3-3) caught fire. Garduno set up Jefferson Fubellah to tie the game and Mubarak Nyang gave English a 2-1 lead at the break, assisted by Gabe Smith.Danvers fought back to tie the game with seven minutes left on an unassisted goal by Wesley Moreira on a rebound of a Daniel Cordoba save. But the Bulldogs kept pressuring and drew a free kick from the 40 with five minutes to go.Alex Alvarez took the kick and fed Garduno, who beat Danvers keeper Andrew Mikulski with a shot to the top corner for the game-winner.Swampscott 1, Beverly 0At Swampscott, the Big Blue (6-2-4, 6-2-3 NEC) got all they could handle from the one-win Panthers, but Max Gateman’s goal, assisted by Ben Wollerscheid, with 25 minutes left was the difference.D.J. Marquis pitched the shutout in net, saving the game in the final seconds with a diving save on a Beverly attempt from point-blank range.Peabody 4, Winthrop 0At Miller Field in Winthrop, the Tanners (9-0-1) prepared for their showdown with NEC North rival Salem by getting a solid road win. Dominic Mondi had two goals and an assist to pace Peabody.Jordan Hoofnagle and Jared Shields also had goals, with A.J. Grube and Matt Quadros added assists.Salem 5, Saugus 0At Saugus, the Witches (7-2-1) didn’t get caught looking ahead to Friday’s (6:30) showdown at Bertram Field against NEC North leader Peabody, scoring three times in the first eight minutes and never looking back.”Our passing was unbelievable. It was the best I’ve seen in years,” Salem coach Mike D’Agostino said.Max Mondestein, Mike Steeves and Edwin DeMoya led the way in the win. Mondestein had a goal and four assists while Steeves had two goals and an assist and DeMoya added a goal and three assists.Lorjan Kavagjozi had the first Salem goal with Jeff Iwanicki and Brad Duhaime having one assist each.Revere 1, Gloucester 1At Gloucester, Zrahim Rhazi scored in the first half for Revere (6-4-2), but the Fishermen came back to tie the game 10 minutes into the second half.
