This was the first time in nearly a decade that the Bulldogs defeated the Fishermen.”It’s a great win for this program,” Bulldogs coach Kerry King said. “Everyone was very excited.”Nyang, who scored the winner midway through the second half, accounted for both English goals. Keeper Daniel Cordoba also had a great game, the highlight coming with 10 minutes remaining when he stopped a penalty shot to preserve the win.”(Cordoba) has really stepped up and solidified this team,” said King. “He is a converted goalie, and has really turned around this season for us.”Midfielders Chukuma Haluwah and Anthony McCullogh had extremely strong defensive games.Alex Trokski scored the Fishermen’s lone goal.Peabody 4, Swampscott 3At Peabody, the Big Blue took a 2-1 lead six minutes into the second half on a Kyle Taylor penalty kick, but the Tanners (8-0-1) buckled down and scored three unanswered goals to put the game away.Swampscott’s Matt Gateman gave the Big Blue a 1-0 lead (Ben Wollerscheid assist) in the first half, but Peabody’s Kyle McGlone (2 goals, assist) tied it up (Jared Shields assist). Swampscott took the lead when a Peabody player, responding to a whistle in a field hockey game, caught the ball (thinking play was dead). Taylor nailed the penalty kick for a 2-1 lead.Peabody retaliated with goals by McGlone, Hysen Qoshja (goal, assist) and Andrew Goldstone (McGlone assist) for a 4-2 lead. Swampscott’s Rocky Nenshati scored the final Big Blue goal (unassisted) with three minutes remaining.Swampscott (5-2-4) was without its leading scorer, Chris Nenshati, who turned an ankle in the last game. D.J. Marquis had a strong game in net despite the loss.Salem 1, Marblehead 0At Salem, Edwin DeMoya scored the game-winner with eight minutes remaining and goalie Dan McCarthy preserved the win with his second shutout.
