SAUGUS-The Saugus Cultural Council has about $6,800 that it is ready to give away in the form of grants to theatrical or music productions. The council is part 329 local councils that serve communities across the state. The guidelines to apply for a grant are few.Priority is given to performers who have already chosen and contacted a venue and to in-school projects, rather than off-site theatrical productions. And priorities are given to programs aimed at children and elders.Past grant recipients have included a musical program for senior citizens, New England Aquarium outreach at the Lynnhurst School, Taike Japanese drumming at the Oaklandvale School and mixed media demonstration and class participation at the high school.Applications must be postmarked no later than Oct. 15 and mailed to Saugus Cultural Council, c/o Chairwoman Belinda Fernandes, 16 Knowles Ave., Saugus.A PDF version of the application can be accessed at http://massculturalcouncil.org/applications/lccapp.pdf or http://massculturalcouncil.org/applications/lccapp.dot for a Word version.
