The educational seminar will be held on Thursday at the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce Conference Room, 100 Oxford St. beginning at 8 a.m.Business owners and employees will learn how to find the OSHA requirements that apply to your business and the types of hazards occurring in your type of business, and also how to get free assistance.Bates has worked for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) since July of 1977. From 1977 to 1983, Bates worked in the management office of the Boston regional office and the management office and the federal and state operations office of the San Francisco regional office.Bates is certified to conduct 10- and 30-hour training for both general industry and construction which allows her to provide official OSHA cards to the attendees. As a field inspector, she performed compliance inspections of workplaces, including hospitals and nursing homes, machine shops, all types of manufacturing, warehousing, food processing, among many others. These compliance inspections were to determine if the employer was in compliance with OSHA safety and health standards as well as all requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Over the course of the last 22 years, Bates has successfully completed over 60 training classes on safety and health hazards and OSHA compliance. Some specific classes include, but are not limited to: Machine Guarding, Accident Investigation, Electrical Standards, Hazardous Materials, Civil Law Enforcement, Industrial Hygiene for Safety Personnel, Principles of Ergonomics, Ergonomics & Work, Life Safety Code, Respiratory Protection, Safety & Health Program Evaluation, Nursing Home Initiative Inspection Issues, Bloodborne Pathogens, Understanding Workplace Violence, Nursing Homes & Ergonomics, Safe Patient Handling, Train-the-Trainer in General Industry Standards.This is a free seminar.
