The East Lynn B Team Bulldogs upped their season’s record to 3-0 Sunday, winningn their home opener over the South End (Boston) Titans, 6-0.The loss was the first for the Titans.The Dogs won thanks to a touchdown by Gerald Kahari on a 20-yard run. Also playing well offensively was Marcos Echevarria, Meliek Bennet and Paul Robinson.The defensive battle was hard fought with both teams’ offenses struggling and unable to contend with the defensive speed and strategy of the opposition.The majority of the game was played between the 40-yard lines, as neither team was able to sustain offensive drives of any length.Leading the East Lynn defense in its second shutout in three games were Gerald Kahari, Pich Bochuven, Christian Costa, Joshua Michel, Jordan Collier and Charles Collins.The Bulldogs will play at home again next Sunday at Manning Filed against another Greater Boston League, Mattipan Patriots.The traveling D squad defeated previously undefeated Wakefield 14-0, improving their record to 3-0. Wakefield had defeated Woburn 32 to 7 and Dracut 27 to 0. The Travel D squad dominated the game defensively, led by Chad Hernandez, Terrance Bowers and Victor Claudio, who had two interceptions and also ran a kick back for a touchdown.Mason Jones, Frank Perry and Calvin Johnson, who scored a touchdown, led the offense. They play at Methuen Sunday, at 8 a.m.The home D team ran over the Titans, 26-6. Thomas Reyes carried the ball for three touchdowns. Along with Brendan Powicki and Kingsley Metelus in the backfield the Bulldogs were flawless. Defensive standouts were Wesley Atkinson ,Thomas Reyes, Mark Brazell, Joshua Colon, Marcel Wilson and Mark Drills. Minor Injuries were Johnathan Mercado.WEST LYNNAfter showing support for the new Lynn youth football league, the Chargers Saturday at Manning Field, as well as staying to support our North Shore Generals, the West Lynn Rams got up early Sunday morning and traveled to Kelly Field in Hyde Park, to take on the Mattapan Patriots.The “Mighty Mites” came home with a hard fought victory, with touchdowns by Abraham Garcia and Treavuon Baldwin and a final score of 12-0. The D-squad suffered a 20-0 loss against a seemingly unstoppable Mattapan Patriots D-squad team.The C-squad showed up and showed out again, beating the Patriots 22-0. Quarterback Jordan Brown (“JB”), showed his talent on the field as he threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Heing. He again had two successful extra point kicks.Also getting in on the action was Jalen Wiggins, with a 35-yard touchdown run and Brad Scuzzarella with an 18-yard touchdown run.The offensive line which consists of Micah Jackson, Malik Bickford and Pedro Cierillo, had its best game of the season thus far, according to offensive coach Maurice Cordy.Head coach Andre Robinson said, the defense wasn’t to be outdone though either, as they too, held strong with Davinya Robinson, Edwin Romero, Ajayli Booker and Jeffrey Todd, holding the Patriots scoreless.The C-squad has won its first three games of the season against some tough Pop Warner teams, with a total points scored of 73 and their opponents, 0.The B squad came close to victory against an undefeated Mattapan Patriots team. However in the end, the Patriots proved victorious with a final score of 7-6.The Rams started the game with a first quarter drive to put six points on the board, with an 8-yard run by Maurice Felton; but fell short of the extra point attempt.Mattapan came right back and scored and succeeded on the extra point attempt. In the fourth quarter, Maurice Felton had a 67-yard touchdown run that was called back.He had 143 yards on the ground and Nate S. had 87 yards on the ground. The defense played big and did their best to stop Mattapan’s attack.The offense was strong too, but penalties killed the B-squad team.
