Lynn Classical High School golf coach Jay Fiste had an outstanding weekend, winning the Mixed Classic at Gannon Golf Course with his wife, Jane.However, Coach Fiste’s team struggled in a season-opening tri-meet against Danvers and Marblehead at Tedesco Country Club in Marblehead on Tuesday. The Rams fell to both opponents, 57-15 to Danvers and 49-23 to Marblehead.While the Rams’ record now stands at 0-2 on the season, Fiste praised two of his players, Sean Winchell for his overall performance and Chris Merrill for his play against Marblehead.FIELD HOCKEYFenwick 7, Everett 0At Donaldson Field in Peabody, the Crusaders got the new season started in a big way as Lauren McHugh found the net four times to lead the offensive explosion.Maggie Gore, Cara Charochak and Liz Spears all added single goals. Goaltender Kayla Casale was outstanding in net, turning aside 12 shots, while Lauren Turner played well in midfield.S’scott 1, Malden 0At Malden, the Big Blue’s (1-0) Alex Wilson scored in the second half, assisted by Courtney Fletcher, to give Swampscott a win in its season opener.Danvers 2, Peabody 0At Danvers, Kiley Stewart and Avery Pecci scored for Danvers (1-0), which led 1-0 at halftime. Diana Bean made nine saves for the Falcons.
