Champions evens NSBL playoff series

Peabody Champions tied its North Shore Baseball League (NSBL) playoff series with the Swampscott Sox with a 7-0 decision at Twi Field on Sunday. Champions scored all seven of its runs in the second inning.”It was embarrassing,” Swampscott Sox coach Joe Caponigro said, calling himself “fired-up” after the game.The series is tied at two games each.Caponigro saluted Champions pitcher Dave DiCenzo, who threw a complete game on Sunday.”He did a fine job,” Caponigro said. “He did an excellent job against us ? He threw outs and kept our hitters off-balance.”The Swampscott coach also praised his own pitcher, Brent Tarasuik, who allowed just one hit after the second inning.”Unfortunately, our defense broke down in the second inning,” Caponigro said. “He was a tough-luck loser.”Regarding the decisive inning, Caponigro said, “We had a couple mental errors. We also made the physical errors.”Game Five is tonight at Swampscott at 7:30 p.m.
