SALEM – A Lynn man who admitted robbing a 25-year-old man on Western Avenue, stealing his coat and $250 in the winter of 2006, received two-to-three years in state prison.Derick Deconinck, 20, who last lived at 112 Federal St., in Lynn, was about to go on trial last week in Lawrence Superior Court, but failed to show up and a warrant was issued for his arrest.He was arrested last week in Salem on the warrant and brought into Salem Superior Court earlier this week where he changed his plea to guilty, confessing to a charge of armed robbery before Judge David A. Lowy.Assistant District Attorney Michael J. Sheehan said the victim, a Lynn resident who lives on New Park Street, was on his way to a bus stop at 5:45 a.m., at the corner of Western Avenue and Washington Street to go to work on Dec. 29, 2006, when two men, one armed with a knife and the other a gun, robbed him of his coat, $250 in cash and his personal belongings.Deconinck was arrested and charged after being identified as one of the robbers through a photo array shown to the victim by authorities.The other assailant still remains unidentified at this time.Sheehan was seeking a three-to-four-year sentence, based on the case, pointing out his prior criminal adult history, including a breaking and entering and a larceny charge, while noting his convictions as a juvenile.Defense lawyer Alison T. Bloomquist pleaded for the lesser punishment of two-to-three years, which the judge adopted.Deconinck was indicted by an Essex County grand jury in April 2007.
