SALEM – A Superior Court judge continued $10,000 cash bail for a Lynn man accused of burglarizing a Mall Street home and confronting the occupant in May.Jose Figueroa, 53, of 44 Park St., #2, was sent back to the Middleton Jail Thursday in lieu of bail after pleading innocent to breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.As jointly recommended by the prosecutor and defense, Judge Maureen Hogan set the same bail as was previously set in District Court, but the defense may petition for a bail review at another court hearing.Assistant District Attorney Jean M. Curran said the charges concern an incident in Lynn on May 17.According to reports, it was around noon when Figueroa allegedly entered a home at 27 Mall St., confronting the occupant inside as he tried to steal a laptop computer.The 35-year-old homeowner was kicked by Figueroa as he tried to escape from the premises, but the homeowner chased him down the street, capturing him at the corner of Western Avenue and Barrett Street, and held him until police arrived.Entrance to the home had apparently been gained through a locked street door that was pushed open.Figueroa faces up to 10 years in prison for the burglary charge and another 10 years punishment for the attack on the homeowner.He is due back in court on Aug. 25.
