REVERE – A reinforced State Police commitment to keep Revere Beach safe this summer and help from developer Steven Fustolo have kept crime to a minimum since Memorial Day along the city’s oceanfront.This is the week when local businesses and city officials pulled out the stops to attract tourists to the annual sandcastle building contest and related events.Fustolo and The Revere Beach Partnership, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization and preservation of the beach, sponsored the contest, which, in past years, has attracted 250,000 visitors. Fustolo is making plans to build 242 condominiums on the beach.”We are the lead sponsor of that event,” Fustolo said.State and local police met at the summer’s start to map out plans for keeping Revere Beach Boulevard free of public drinking, youth gang loitering and violence. State Reps. Robert DeLeo and Kathi-Anne Reinstein helped secure $355,550 to pay for State Police patrols along the beach and other Boston area beaches.
