LYNN – Police are still searching for the person who used a BB gun Tuesday night to shoot a passing driver in the head on Broadway.According to police spokesman Lt. Ted Blake, a 53-year-old woman was driving on Broadway near St. Jean Cemetery when a BB penetrated the window and struck her cell phone that she was using at about 7 p.m.The driver, who had three people in the car, stopped the vehicle and backed up looking for the suspects when her car was shot at again, police said.Police made no arrests Wednesday.As the victim called police, approximately five young suspects took off running toward Susan McIlwain’s backyard on Mayfair Street.McIlwain was watering flowers when one boy cut through her yard and told her he was “walking back from the mall,” she said.When the other boys saw that McIlwain was confronting one of them, the rest ran through other neighboring backyards after jumping fences.”I totally dismissed it,” she said.Several Mayfair Street residents said the suspects were last seen running down Clairmont Street and one of them was wearing a Tracy McGrady basketball jersey.A similar incident was reported in Meriden, Conn. on Tuesday, when at least three vehicles driving along Interstate 691 were hit with BBs.
