LYNN – A severely injured Lynn police officer remains in intensive care and is slowly but surely improving day by day, police said Wednesday.Officer Gregory LeBlanc is still unable to speak but can make hand movements and responds to friends and family at his Brigham and Women’s Hospital bedside, according to police spokesman Lt. Ted Blake.Blake said Deputy Chief Kevin Coppinger visited him in the hospital Wednesday.Coppinger reported that LeBlanc is “stabilized” and is showing signs of improvement, but has a long road ahead of him. LeBlanc has undergone multiple surgeries.LeBlanc suffered a broken pelvis among several other injuries Saturday after his police car collided with another cruiser on Western Avenue as both were responding to a call for help.LeBlanc’s cruiser came to rest on top of another police car operated by Lt. Christopher Reddy, who suffered minor injuries.Shortly after visiting LeBlanc in the hospital Sunday, Police Chief John Suslak said people all over the city were giving an outpouring of support.”Virtually everybody I saw today was asking how the officers were doing,” Suslak said.Suslak said Reddy and his brother, Lt. Thomas Reddy, were among the many officers who visited LeBlanc in the hospital.”His (Reddy’s) biggest concern at the scene was for Greg,” Suslak said.Blake said Wednesday that the investigation into the accident has been taken over by State Police and results may not be known for some time.
