One of the feel-good stories of the spring came in girls golf, where Saugus qualified for the state tournament in its first season. The Sachems finished last, but just making the tournament was an accomplishment for the first-year program. They were led by Andrea O’Neil; Sarah White; Annie Orlando; Jackie Sanford; Samantha Imbrascia and Christina Imbrascia.St. Mary’s, under coach Dave Giarusso, had several matches postponed because of inclement weather, but the Spartans still were able to pick up several wins.In boys golf, Bishop Fenwick achieved perfection, going 10-0 in its Catholic Central League slate. The Crusaders were only tested in one dual match in the spring.Anthony Ricci was named the league’s MVP.Blaine Thibodeau, Brian McConnell, Stephen Cleary and Patrick Riley also garnered all-star nods in the CCL.
