For the second time this season, the Salem baseball team pulled out a one-run win over Peabody. And with it, the Witches assumed control of the NEC North division race thanks to a 7-6 win at Salem State on Wednesday.After watching the Tanners (11-5, 9-4 NEC) come back from a 6-1 deficit in the fifth inning, Salem (10-6, 9-4) resorted to its version of small ball in the sixth to go ahead for good.Mack Ryan walked and moved to second on a wild pitch. He took third when Gary Girolamo’s pickoff throw hit his hand and scored on a perfectly-executed suicide squeeze by Beau Theriault.Reliever Justin Williams closed the door from there, holding Peabody to one hit over the final 2.1 innings.Salem broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth, scoring five times on five straight hits.
