St. Mary’s scored a run in the first and one in the second before opening things up with four in the fourth. Brittany Hanscom (2-for-3, RBI, run scored); Erin McAndrews (3-for-4, 2 RBI) and Christina Burri (2-for-5, 2 RBI) supplied the firepower while Katelynn Fanning (2 innings, 1 hit, 2 strikeouts) and Sam Kiley (5 innings, 4 hits, 1 strikeout) combined for the win.S’scott 13, Beverly 1At Swampscott, the Big Blue (8-4, 8-3 NEC) bats came alive, with Marissa Gambale (2-for-4, RBI); Malorie McGrath (3-for-4, RBO); Kirstin Vinal (2-for-5, 4 RBI) and Catherine Gorham (3-for-5, triple, 2 RBI) doing the bulk of the damage. Carissa Roche started, went four innings and allowed a hit. Vinal went two innings and also gave up a hit.Danvers 7, English 2At Keaney Park, the Bulldogs (0-13) led in early going, but Danvers came alive with three runs in the third to take the lead for good. English scored its first run in the first when Leanne Paula walked with the bases loaded to score Cara Crowley, and added another in the second when Crowley hit a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Jackie Trapula, who had walked. Tiffany Drown went the distance in the loss.Danvers (9-4) was led offensively by Kim Leonard (2-for-2, 3 runs scored) and Diana Bean (2-for-3, double). Justine Pratt started for the Falcons and Bean pitched the final 5 2/3 innings.Arl. Cath. 7, Fenwick 0At Arlington, the Crusaders (3-9, 1-7 Catholic Central League) couldn’t do much at the plate, only tapping Arlington Catholic pitching for five hits, but they had stellar defensive efforts from junior first baseman Christina Cipriani and freshman shortstop Amy Pelletier. Both also had a hit. Courtney Begin pitched the first three innings for Fenwick and Allyssa Begin finished up.Minuteman 10, Tech 0At Lexington, Jasmine Lluveres had a couple of nice catches in right field for the Tigers and Kristina Hynes struck out five, but Minuteman was too much to handle.Andover 8, Winthrop 5At Winthrop, the Vikings (9-5) saw one slip away in the eighth inning when Andover scored three runs on three singles and a triple. Winthrop had a runner, Lindsey Barker, on third with one out in the bottom half of the inning, but couldn’t bring her in.Kristen Finn (8 innings, 4 earned runs, 14 hits, 1 strikeout) took the loss. Courtney Finn went 3-for-4 with three doubles and three runs scored. Ashley Fiandaca (2-for-4, 3 RBI) also contributed with the bat.
