Despite some difficult conditions, the Northeastern Conference’s freshman-sophomore meet produced some big winners on a cold, rainy morning.Peabody placed first out of twelve schools in the boys meet with a score of 106 points. In the meet, which was held at Beverly, the Tanners received individual victories from Edwin Mejia in the triple jump (38-1.5) and Joe Losanno in the high hurdles (19.1). Peabody also took the 4×800 relay (9:44.8).Finishing in second place was Beverly with 88 points. George Louis scored wins for the Panthers in the high jump (5-6) and the 100m (11.4).Gloucester, which finished in third place with 56 points, received victories from Gus Margiotta in the shot put (48-10), Anthony LaRocca in the 200m (23.8) and Andrew Ryan in the 1600m (4:49.9). The Fisherman also took the 4×400 relay in 3:54.4.Salem finished fourth overall with 52 points, behind a victory from Tyler Mason in the discus (103-11).Marblehead, with 50 points, finished fifth with wins from Andrew Graf in the 800m (2:08.2).Lynn English took sixth place with 44 points, receiving a win from Camy Ducasse in the 400m (54.1). The Bulldogs also took the 4×100 relay (46.8).Danvers, in seventh with 29 points, had two winners in Kell Falite for the long jump (18-0) and Chris Chapruet in the 2-mile (10:36.6).Winthrop, finishing eighth with 28 points, got a win from Dan Sena in the low hurdles (43.3).Swampscott (17 points), Saugus (8), Lynn Classical (7) and Revere (4) finished off the standings.GIRLSFor the girls meet, Danvers won with a score of 78 points. Christina Kaszynski won the 400m (62.7) while the Falcons also took the 4×400 relay in 4:41.”We had a great day,” said Danvers coach Sean Dunleavy. “With the conditions being not so great for running, I was really happy with our results.”Salem placed second with 70 points. The Witches’ sole winner was Desiree DeLeon, who took the 100m (13.1).Peabody was close behind in third place with 66 points. Andrea Saccardo’s two victories in the triple jump (33-6) and low hurdles (49.3) led the Tanners. Peabody also took the 4×800 relay in 11:53.1.Beverly, which finished fourth with 62 points, got three wins. Katie Mahoney took the discus (84-3), Monica Adler won the 800m (2:21.4) and Jennifer Lanza won the 2-mile (13:11.4).Saugus placed fifth with 59 points behind victories from Lauren Atkins in the long jump (14-7) and Kaleigh Evans in the high hurdles (18.2).Marblehead, in sixth place with 52 points, was paced by Mary Keroack’s win in the 200m (27 seconds). The Magicians also took the 4×100 relay in 55.3 seconds.Swampscott, in seventh place with 25 points, had a double-winner in Lindsay Walsh, who prevailed in the high jump (4-8) and mile (5:29.4).Revere and Gloucester tied for eighth overall with 20 points each. Lynn English (17 points), Lynn Classical (14) and Revere (0) rounded out the standings.
