Calla went 3-4 and drove in two to go along with two stolen bases. On the defensive side, the catcher had an equal impact throwing out two runners attempting to steal (five in the last two games).Silva had two hits and a RBI, Harry Rocheville had a two-run single and Dave Ferreira added a RBI single in the sixth.Lynnfield 12Manchester-Essex 9At Lynnfield, a five-run sixth, all with two outs, erased a two-run Pioneer deficit and gave the home team a lead sophomore pitcher Chris Grassi did not relinquish.Lynnfield (6-5) plated four in the first, two more in the second and added a run in the third to provide starter Garrett McNeill with a sizeable lead. The Hornets didn’t waver. The visitors scratched away and eventually knocked out McNeill with two outs in the fourth.Grassi entered, pitched three and a third, and thanks to the Pioneer’s execution with two outs in the sixth, picked up the eventual win.Brian Cochran had three RBI for Lynnfield, Dan O’Donnell and Kurt Thomas each had two hits and as many RBI, and Phil Perriello also drove home two.Peabody 11, M’Head 3At Marblehead, the Magicians held a 2-0 lead after three, but the Tanners figured out the Marblehead pitching staff plating four in the fourth, two in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the seventh.Junior Chris Gaudet pitched five innings in his first varsity start allowing two runs on five hits while striking out six.Josh Band, James Noftel and Patrick Yeo all had two RBI and Gary Girolamo had two hits and a run scored.Fenwick 5, Marian 3At Fenwick, Andrew Guido threw seven strong innings, striking out three while improving his team’s record to 5-6 on the season.The Crusaders scored four runs in the second and three in the third, and Guido was spinning a shutout heading into the final inning before the Mustangs pushed three across the plate.
