EAST BOSTON – Suffolk Downs will open its gates at 9:30 a.m. Saturday for simulcasting of the Dubai World Cup Day program from Nad Al Sheba Racecourse.Advance wagering on all races will be available today. Post time is 9:40 a.m. The track will offer complimentary coffee and pastries from 9:30-11 a.m. at concession stands.Reigning Horse of the Year Curlin is the 2-5 favorite in the 13-horse field entered for the $6 million Dubai World Cup (Group I), the world’s richest thoroughbred race. The four-year-old Steve Asmussen trainee has won seven of ten career starts, including his last three.As a three-year-old in 2007, Curlin upset the Triple Crown hopes of Street Sense in the Preakness Stakes, defeating the Kentucky Derby winner by a head. Curlin went on to win the Jockey Club Gold Cup and Breeders’ Cup Classic to earn Eclipse Awards as both champion three-year-old male and overall Horse of the Year.Also on Saturday’s simulcasting menu is the $1 million Florida Derby (Grade I) from Gulfstream Park.
