The Salem State baseball team rebounded from Wednesday’s loss to defeat Rhode Island College, 10-3, yesterday at the baseball field.The Vikings (10-5), banged out 13 hits on its way to an 8-2 lead after three. They scored three times in the first, three more in the second and twice in the third. SSC tacked on single runs in the sixth and eighth frames.Viking senior catcher and lead-off hitter Marc Crovo went 3-for-5 and scored three times. Freshman shortstop Ryan Kane (Nahant) had a run-scoring single and finishing with three RBI.Senior third baseman Mike Addesa (Revere) added a two-run single and Casey Melchionno (Revere) contributed an RBI double. Anthony Palmieri (Peabody) registered an RBI single.Freshman righthander Chris Prew (Winthrop) earned the win, pitching two complete innings while not giving up a run, walking a pair, striking out two and scattering four hits.SOFTBALLThe Lady Vikings swept Gordon College, 8-2 and 6-3 in Wenham. Junior righthander Katelyn Doherty (Lynnfield) posted a complete- game win in the opener, scattering five hits, allowing two runs and walking a pair.The Lady Vikings pounded out a dozen hits. Freshman Taylor Orlando (Danvers) went 3-for-4 and Lynn’ Erica Sonia knocked in a pair.while senior lead-off hitter Sarah Funk (Newport News, VA) went 2-for-4 with a pair of triples and two runs scored. Baird recorded a pair of doubles and scored twice. Eric Sonia (Lynn) and Lauren Concannon (Everett) added two RBI’s each.In the nightcap, Orlando led off the second inning with a home run.
