MARBLEHEAD – The town’s publicly-funded fireworks display, scheduled for Friday, July 4, at 9 p.m., is halfway to its donation goal.Tim Green, chairman of the Marblehead Fireworks Committee, told selectmen Wednesday evening that the committee has raised $32,421 so far and has "another $30,000 to go." The biggest donation so far is $2,500 from North Shore Ambulance. Those who can’t donate at that level may show their support by wearing a "Collector’s Item" hat with the message "Fireworks Forever." The hats were the idea of Brett Campayno Mentuck of Mycoff Advertising. The hats are available at Marblehead Ace Hardware and Pawsitively Marblehead, and the committee is looking for more retail outlets. Proceeds from each sale go directly to the fireworks fund.Mycoff Advertising also designed "Fireworks Forever" bumper stickers to decorate supporters’ cars. They cost $5 each, and if the purchaser wants to donate more the committee will gladly accept it.Stickers are available at the town clerk’s office and the selectmen’s office at Abbot Hall, Beacon Hill Liquors, Marblehead Ace Hardware, FL Woods, West Marine, Howard’s News Stand and the offices of the Marblehead Reporter.Fireworks Committee members are appointed annually by the Board of Selectmen. Donations to the committee can be sent in care of the Marblehead Board of Selectmen at Abbot Hall.Committee activities can be followed at their Web site, www.marbleheadfireworks.org/fuse.html.
