LYNN – A Lynn man was arrested in Boston’s South End Saturday for being an unlicensed taxi driver, Boston police said.Tomas Jose, 40, was arrested and charged with failing to stop for police and being an unlicensed hackney operator shortly after 2 a.m.An officer observed a vehicle operated by Jose pull over toward a group of people who were hailing a cab, police said.Since the vehicle did not appear to be a legal taxi, police activated lights and sirens but the car did not stop right away, according to police.When the officers approached the car, the driver allegedly drove away. It stopped a short time later after the officers issued verbal commands, police said.Police say the car lacked the proper license plates and a taxi medallion.
