MARBLEHEAD- A special Building Oversight Committee will fine-tune the proposal for Marblehead Village School repairs before it reaches Town Meeting May 5.The Village School needs a new heating system – the present system has been on its last legs since 2000, according to School Committee members – but since the project is not eligible for state aid the School Committee wants the voters to know they will get their money’s worth.”The Village School is a Category 3 school and the state chose to fund our Category 4 school,” said School Committee Chairman Amy Drinker.Drinker got no arguments from her colleagues when she made that proposal Thursday.Drinker said the committee should include Superintendent of Schools Paul Dulac, School Business Manager David Keniston, Facilities Director David Dunkley, Village School Principal Donald LeClair, School Committee member Rob Dana, building expert Mike Rockett and herself. Also on the list are a teacher to be selected by LeClair and a member of the community at large. The School Department is receiving letters of interest from community members until Friday, March 14 at the school administration office, 9 Widger Road, Marblehead MA 01945.Dana said he expected the committee deliberations to proceed quickly, but “This is a difficult project.”
