PEABODY – Human Resource representatives from Peabody Public Schools will be attending a recruitment fair today at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium with hopes of getting a head start on hiring new teachers for the upcoming school year.Louise Genualdo, Assistant to the Superintendent for Human Resources, will be leading her staff through the five-hour day organized by the Merrimack Valley Educators’ Consortium. Over 700 prospective teachers are expected to attend with resumes in hand.”I’m very excited for our first job fair for the season,” said Genualdo.Twenty-nine other communities from Amesbury to Acton-Boxborough will also attend the event. The Consortium believes that by pooling their resources, they will be able to attract the highest quality of teachers for their communities. Some teachers are even hired within weeks of the fair.Genualdo said that this year, Peabody will participate in something different; they’ll be inviting the candidates back to the district to meet casually over coffee. She said it would be a good way to “find out who’s really interested.”Principals from all 10 Peabody schools are expected to attend the meet and greet scheduled for Wednesday, May 14 at the Kiley School. At that time, candidates are asked to bring resumes, a completed application, three references, copies of certificates, and college transcripts.
