The tournament hasn’t started yet, but it sure felt like it Tuesday in the Winthrop girls basketball team’s 58-51 overtime win against Gloucester at Winthrop.The score was tied 45-45 at the end of regulation with the Fishermen in a position to pull out the win after making two big defensive stops in the final 30 seconds. In the end, the Vikings had the juice at the free-throw line. They went 23-for-37 with seven of the points coming in overtime on 11 attempts. The Fishermen were 13-for-18.”The game was played with a tournament atmosphere,” Winthrop coach Peter Grimes said, adding his team was particularly effective on the offensive boards.”We played with a tremendous amount of heart,” Gloucester coach Jon Flanagan said. “The girls played tough for 32 minutes ? They played hard at both ends of the court.”Gloucester is 12-7 and Winthrop is 16-4.
