LYNN-The Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of the Yankee Clipper Council will be conducting a food collection drive to help the hungry throughout the North Shore and the Greater Lynn area. The scouts plan to visit homes throughout the area and distribute grocery bags beginning Feb. 2 with instructions to leave the bags with non-perishable food items on the morning of Feb. 9 when they will be picked up and distributed to local food pantries.”Scouting for Food” is a project rooted in the foundation of the scouting movement. In the Law of the Pack, a Cub Scout “gives goodwill” and in the Boy Scout Promise a Boy Scout promises “to help other people at all times.” By participating in this program scouts will achieve their goal of living these words.Across the 52 towns served by the Yankee Clipper Council, hundreds of scouts will be involved in this food collection effort.
